BRANCH members of Cancer Research UK in Galashiels enjoyed one of their most successful fundraising events on Friday.

More than 220 fashionistas packed into the Academy for a evening of catwalk creations.

And organisers, Lynne Mackay and Janice Lees, were thrilled with the night's takings - which were just under £2,300.

Lynne told us: "This is the first time we've organised a fashion show and it was a huge success.

"We would like to thank everyone for coming along and supporting the evening."

Stunning outfits from some of the leading stores were on display during the glamorous get together.

And the audience were given the opportunity to buy many of the garments.

The wine bar waiters were kept busy throughout the night.

Richard Mackay, who helped behind the bar, told us: "All the guests received a glass of prosecco on arrival and were were kept going throughout the evening.

"This was something new for the committee and it proved to be really successful."

Over the nine years the Galashiels and district branch of Cancer Research UK has raised more than £45,000 to support research and care.

Lynne added: "Everyone seemed to have a great night and hopefully got some good bargains too, so we will definitely think about doing another one."
