Fjordhus Reivers 2

Inverleith 2

IN the last home game of the season played out in glorious sunshine, Fjordhus Reivers 1sts entertained Edinburgh side Inverleith in what turned out to be a very exciting game.

Both teams were weakened by the absence of players who were away at a Scottish National training day but that didn’t stop the young Fjordhus Reivers players left, playing out of their skin.

This was an extremely disciplined and hard working performance by the squad which saw them take the lead before half time with a superb strike by Caitlin Wright.

Throughout the first period there was some excellent interplay between Chloe Richardson, Iona Kellett and Julia Corcoran which saw Inverleith pinned back in their own half as the Reivers created many scoring opportunities.

The second half continued in much the same style with the Reivers looking like the team more likely to score.

However, Reivers saw themselves on the wrong side of a 2-1 scoreline as Inverleith scored from two quick counter attacks - the first coming from a penalty stroke.

This didn’t dent the Reivers confidence and back they came.

After continued pressure and a number of penalty corners, Emma Pate slid the ball through to Iona Kellett, who was lurking at the post and she deflected the ball in to make the score 2-2.

This was a fantastic team performance from all the team and with three games to go Fjordhus Reivers sit mid table and can look ahead with confidence to the remaining fixtures.
