A 33-year-old man was kicked to the ground in an afternoon assault in Hawick.

The incident happened at around 2pm on Friday (March 24) on a footpath leading from Chay Blyth Place down to the Old Railway Line, close to Wilton Cemetery.

The man was walking in the area when he was confronted by a male who then kicked him, causing him to fall to the ground.
The suspect then left walked off towards Hawick town centre in the company of two other males.

Constable Calum Wilson from Hawick Police Station said: "This seems to have been an unprovoked assault and while the victim was not seriously injured, this was an upsetting incident for him.

"Anyone who was in the area at the time and saw anything suspicious is asked to come forward to police."
