CHIRNSIDE United sealed their sixth Division A title with a 3-0 win over Langholm Legion.

Duncan Morrison and Stevie Shennan’s men have been the runaway leaders all season and proved too strong for the Muckle Toon, who remain in relegation trouble.

Grant Wilson’s hat-trick saw Tweeddale Rovers beat Stow 3-2, to leave the Villagers relying on other results to stay in Division A.

Stow took the lead through Shaun Hardie, but Wilson’s treble means Fraser Riddell’s side, who have no games left, need second bottom Gordon to pick up less than five points from their final four games, otherwise Stow will be relegated.

With both Hawick teams – Legion and United – seeing their games called off, Newtown took advantage with a 3-1 win at Biggar United in Division B.

Russell Hunter scored a hat-trick which means a victory in their final game will see Newtown promoted for the second season in succession.

Bailey Paterson and Steven Reid were among the scorers for Coldstream Amateurs in a 4-2 win over Linton Hotspur, which means the Ammies can go up if Newtown slip up.

Gala Hotspur fought back from being 2-0 down at home to Kelso Thistle to grab what could be a vital point.

Marcus Gordon’s double means Spurs can still avoid relegation, although they will need to win their final game at Biggar United and hope eighth placed Earlston Rhymers slip up.

St Boswells are on the verge of promotion from Division C with a 3-1 win over Selkirk Victoria. The Saints need three points from their final three games to confirm their promotion.

Darren Gardiner scored the Vics’ only goal, with their manager Daniel Pringle resigning after the game.

Finally, William Mercer scored four as Melrose finished their league season with a thumping 8-3 win over Hawick Legion Rovers.
