SINCE 2011, Scottish Borders Council has paid out £242,528 in compensation to motorists whose vehicles have been damaged by potholes on the region’s roads.
A Freedom of Information response from the council also reveals that there are currently 168 outstanding claims from aggrieved drivers.
Asked how much these claims will potentially cost the council, the response states: “Unfortunately, it is not possible to predict how much will be paid in compensation.”
