AN APPEAL has been launched after a woman suffered facial injuries following an incident at a Jedburgh farm this morning.

The woman, who was lambing at the farm, situated just off the A68 road, was assaulted when she challenged two men that she came across at the property at around 3am (Thursday, April 13).

The men ran off into a wooded area and a quad bike was heard driving off.

The first man is described as white, in his 30s, around five foot seven inches tall, of thin build and scruffy appearance with light stubble and acne scars. He was wearing a grey tracksuit and trainers and spoke with a Geordie accent.

The second man is described as white, in his 50s, six foot tall, of large build with black hair. He was wearing jeans and boots.

PC Claire White of Hawick Police Station said: "This was an particularly frightening experience for the woman who was shaken. Whilst the assault happened in a remote area we have good descriptions of the two men and I want to speak to anyone who may recognise them.

"A suspicious van was also seen in a layby on the A68 shortly before the incident happened, it is described as a white Ford Transit with a 56 registration and was rusty.

"Two people were seen inside the van smoking. I'm keen to trace this van and its occupants as they may be able to assist with our enquiries."

Anyone with information should contact Police Scotland on 101 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
