STRUGGLING with police after an incident outside a bar resulted in a court appearance for Dunfermline woman Connie Barcik this week.

Barcik, 35, of Linburn Road, appeared for sentencing at Dunfermline Sheriff Court after earlier admitting resisting, obstructing or hindering two police officers while in execution of their duty and acting in an aggressive manner, shouting, swearing and struggling with the officers and spitting.

The incident took place on October 30 last year at Carnegie Drive and Dunfermline Police Station.

Depute fiscal Claire Bremner said police officers had reason to detain the accused and take her to the police station. She was acting aggressively, shouting and swearing and spat while en route to the police station and at the police station.

Solicitor Ian Beatson said his client had had difficulties with medication and sometimes used alcohol to self-medicate.

Before the incident, she had been out for the evening with family members and they had gone into the Brass House.

She was allowed in and bought a drink then she had gone to the door as a relative was not being allowed in.

"They didn't deal with her in a manner she felt was fair and, at that stage, police became involved," he said.

"She is very much regretful of what took place but has no recollection whatsoever of being taken to the police station or any involvement with the police."

Sheriff Craig McSherry placed Barcik on a community payback order with 12 months' supervision which he said was a "direct alternative" to a custodial sentence.
