THE achievements of Earlston High pupils were recognised, as the the school held its annual Celebration of Success Evening.

Last month, students came together and many were granted awards for their hard work and attainment.

The accolades included junior and senior subject champions across all areas of the curriculum, community awards, work experience, college course commitment, volunteering, Duke of Edinburgh awards, dedication to school clubs, service to the school and school values awards.

Those on the school Hall of Fame, who have achieved success at a national level, were also recognised on the evening, with Imogen Walls being awarded the accolade of Hall of Fame Champion for 2017 for her judo achievements.

Comperes for the evening were the S6 Head Team of Duncan Moore, Bethany Hamilton, Kirsty Davidson and Hugh Robinson, bringing glamour and panache to such an auspicious event.

The guest speaker was Willie Allan, former head of PE at Buckhaven High School and an acclaimed after dinner speaker.

Willie gave a witty yet inspirational talk, highlighting the importance of wider achievement and a positive attitude as being key aspects for youngsters in reaching their career goals.

The house prizes were also given out and, as well as recognising individual successes, the winning house for the session was announced.

The house shield was won by Leader House and collected by house captains Ruth Aitken and Susan Arkley and sports captain Caris Watson.

The night ended by awarding the Team of the Year prize to a creatively talented group of students who were part of the Junk Couture national finals.

The Celebration of Success was enjoyed by a large crowd and plans are already in place to organise the next one in 2017.
