PUPILS from a Peeblesshire primary school are to showcase their colourful art skills at an exhibition next week.

Broughton Primary School will put art work by the children on display for friends, family and local residents at the Hill House Art Gallery in the village.

The pupils have created their work in the style of artist Joan Eardley, who is known for her paintings of street children in Glasgow and landscapes around Scotland.

Ben White from the Broughton Primary School newspaper group told the Peeblesshire News: "There will be over eighty pieces of art work on display and all our friends and families have been invited to come and view the work.

"The exhibition runs until the Sunday (May 14) but the whole school will be at the opening at 10.30am on Friday, May 12. We hope residents can come along to join us."

The gallery will be open for the exhibition between 10.30am to 4pm from Friday to Sunday.
