MORE than 1000 vintage and classic vehicles will be heading to Scotland's best car festival next month.

The Borders Vintage Automobile Club's Historic Motoring Extravaganza at Thirlestane Castle has become a firm favourite for motoring fans from across the country.

And the Sunday Times went as far as to describe it as ‘the best classic car festival in Scotland’.

Now in its 45th year, the 2017 Motoring Extravaganza will celebrate the history of the Great British sports car with beautiful examples of Jaguar, MG, Aston Martin, Morgan and Triumph on display in the Castle grounds.

The Borders Vintage Automobile Club has just announced that they will also have a veteran 102-year-old Prince Henry Sports Torpedo on show - regarded by many as the world’s original sports car.

A spokeswoman for Borders Vintage Automobile Club told us: "Whatever you are interested in, there’s something for everyone to admire with much loved veterans to 1990s cars, motorcycles and commercials.

"There are also steam, military and agricultural classes of vehicle on display.

"And it is all set against the backdrop of magnificent Thirlestane Castle, one of the oldest and finest castles in Scotland."

The 2017 Historic Motoring Extravaganza isn't just a car enthusiast's dream come true.

The colourful event on Sunday, June 4 has plenty of appeal for the whole family.

As well as some of the most desirable vehicles in the country, the Motoring Extravaganza also features a range of superb attractions and entertainment including a craft and gift fair, trade stands, quality catering, a steel band, a dance troupe, gun dog displays and plenty of amusements for the kids.
