PLANS have been unveiled for 34 new flats to be built in central Galashiels.
Eildon Housing want to erect a four-and-a-half storey block on a brownfield site at Huddersfield Street.
The former caravan storage yard on the banks of the Gala Water is currently zoned for industrial or retail use by Scottish Borders Council.
But the social landlord hopes the proposed properties will help make up a current shortfall in housing.
The detailed plans for the site, which neighbours Gala Water Retail Park, is for one-, two-, and three-bedroom apartments.
The plans also indicate a 44-space car park and associated landscaping.
The full planning application will be considered by Scottish Borders Council over the coming months.
