BACKGROUND reports have been ordered into a Hawick woman who bit a police officer on the arm.

Megan White also pleaded guilty to struggling violently with two police officers at a house in Havelock Place, Hawick, on March 20.

Jedburgh Sheriff Court was told 20-year-old White of Weensland Road was currently in custody in connection with proceedings currently taking place at Paisley Sheriff Court.

Procurator fiscal Graham Fraser said: "There was a party ongoing and a large amount of drink taken.

"The accused started to self-harm and an ambulance was called.

"When they arrived at the scene they also called the police. The accused had an injury to her hand and was bleeding heavily.

"She was making life difficult for everyone and then bit a sergeant on the right forearm.

"She tried to bite another officer and kicked out at them.

"Leg restraints were put on her but she continued to struggle violently."

When cautioned and charged later White stated she was 'sorry'.

Sentence was deferred until June 12 for the production of a Criminal Justice Social Work Report and also to await the outcome of the Paisley case.
