A GALASHIELS man has pleaded guilty to a post office robbery in the town.
Jordan Renwick, 24, admitted assaulting shopkeeper Farrukh Sair, 33; robbing 61-year-old customer John Hardie and stealing around £2,500 from the Gala Park post office in Balmoral Place, back in February.
The High Court in Dumfries was told how the attacker jumped over the counter with a hammer and punched Mr Sair on the head, leaving him needing hospital treatment.
He also made off with stamps estimated to be worth around £700 and the customer's mobile phone and wallet.
During the attack, Mr Hardie managed to escape and get help from a passing car.
Renwick was later traced and a number of items from the robbery were found in his home, opposite the post office.
Sentence was deferred to June 26 at the High Court in Edinburgh.
