DESPITE some heavy showers, Broughton Bowling Club successfully held its annual open pairs competition, sponsored by local brewery Broughton Ales, on Saturday.
A total of 24 pairs battled it out over the day, sustained by some excellent catering from the kitchen.
By late afternoon it was down to the final between D Steele and M Steele from Biggar and Billy Rutherford and Tom Anderson from Broughton, with the Broughton pair eventually winning through in the end.
