LETTERS of support from Scottish Borders Council have been sent to Manchester in the wake of Monday's attack.
David Parker, the Convener of SBC, has sent two letters, one addressed to Andy Burnham, the Mayor of Greater Manchester, and another to Councillor Eddie Newman, the Lord Mayor of Manchester.
In them, Mr Parker extended the "deepest sympathies, on behalf of the communities of the Scottish Borders" following the attack at Manchester Area which killed 22 people.
The letters added: "The thoughts and prayers of the communities of our region are with Manchester at this time, be assured that we stand shoulder to shoulder with you in the days ahead."
Mr Parker also paid tribute to the emergency services and the people of Manchester for the "courageous and dignified way in which they have dealt with this atrocity".
The full letter, addressed to the Mayor and Lord Mayor is below.
