A TALKATIVE Peebles man is making soundwaves after landing a major voice-over award this week.

Kenny Blyth won Best Male Voiceover Performance in his role for the Broadband Genie radio and TV ads at the VOX Awards in Birmingham on Saturday.

The talented and adaptable 46-year-old actor and voiceover artist has starred in a wide range of hit TV shows.

His most recent outings have included Duello Official in Outlander in 2015, and has previously appeared in shows such as River City and Taggart.

But more notably, Kenny has lent his voice to some of the UK’s biggest advertising campaigns, with voice-overs for Scottish Power, Barratt Homes, Radox and Reid Furniture.

Kenny is also the sound behind 18 talking books created for the Peebles Community Talking Book Group.

Amongst his work are title including Pandemonium, Dead Air, Quite Ugly, One Fine Day in the Middle of the Night, and Be My Enemy.

Speaking after landing one of the top prizes, Kenny told us: “I’m absolutely shocked and delighted to have won this award.

“I was a finalist in two categories, Best Male Performance and Best Visual TV Campaign, and in terms of the awards up for grabs, to win Best Male, it doesn’t get better than that.”

Since graduating from Edinburgh’s Queen Margaret University in 2000, Kenny won the BBC Carleton Hobbs bursary award in the same year and spent nine months on the radio drama company.
