A CLAN society hope to get Sir Walter Scott’s clock ticking again.
On Sunday Kevin Scott, secretary of the Clan Scott Scotland, handed over a cheque to Giles Ingram from the Abbotsford Trust to help with the restoration project.
The sandstone clock at Abbotsford requires specialist restoration.
And the Clan Scott donation will help towards it working once again.
Clan Scott collects, preserves and publishes information about the history of the Scotts, including details on the contributions made by the clan over the centuries.
Kevin told the Border Telegraph: “If your surname - or that of one of your ancestors - is Scott or related septs (families that followed another family’s chief) with the surnames of Buccleuch, Balwearie, Geddes, Laidlaw or Langlands come and join us - it’s your family as well as ours!”
The presentation was made during Sunday’s Dandie Dinmont celebrations at the Haining House near Selkirk.
