THREE people were arrested in Galashiels yesterday in connection with the supply of illegal drugs.

Two men and one woman were arrested at three different addresses as part of Operation Gatekeeper.

Drugs with a street value of £27,800 were recovered from two addresses.

The two men aged 69-years-old and 30-years-old and the woman aged 49-years-old were due to appear at Selkirk Sheriff court today.

Detective Sergeant Barry Roebuck from Galashiels CIU said: "We will not tolerate the supply of controlled drugs in our communities and we will continue to work closely with the community and our partners to ensure any offences detected are reported to the Procurator Fiscal.

“I can assure the public that any information relating to drug activity in their areas will be acted upon appropriately and handled in a discreet manner.”

Chief Inspector Andrew McLean, Area Commander for the Scottish Borders added: "Through coordinated activity such as Operation Gatekeeper we will continue to target those involved in the supply of controlled drugs and make every effort to bring them to justice.

“Police Scotland treat all instances of drugs supply with the highest priority.

“I would like to reassure the public and local residents of the areas that we will continue with our pro-active patrols and use all police powers at our disposal to deter and detain those involved in such criminality.”
