NHS Borders will hold an event at the BGH this week to raise awareness of breastfeeding.
Women can feel awkward or embarrassed about breastfeeding in public places if they are not made to feel welcome and at ease.
With this in mind, the team at NHS Borders are holding the event in line with this year’s National Breastfeeding Celebration Week theme with the aim of “Changing the Conversation around Breastfeeding.”
The event will be held on Thursday, June 29 from 10am to 11.30am at the Cricket Pavilion at the Borders General Hospital.
Kirstin Worsley, Breastfeeding in the Borders (BiBs) Coordinator said: “Helping communities positively support breastfeeding in public places and making it a normal part of day to day life is extremely important.
“We need to change the conversation around breastfeeding to ensure that women who breastfeed feel supported by not only their partners and family but in their local communities as well.”
She added: “All families with babies, pre-school and school age children are welcome to come along to the event to join us in celebrating breastfeeding, family life and share experiences.”
