A 35-year-old man who assaulted his partner and then breached his bail by turning up at her home has been jailed for a total of three months at Jedburgh Sheriff Court.
Michael Hawthorne seized Gemma Baxter by the throat with his hand during a bust-up at a house in Talisman Avenue, Galashiels, on March 31.
After appearing on court in connection with the assault and being released on bail with the condition of not contacting her, he went to her home in Jedburgh that day and gave her a bag and a mobile phone.
Procurator fiscal Graham Fraser said the couple had a mutually hurtful relationship.
Hawthorne of North Shields was jailed for two months for the assault and received another month for the breach of bail.
