DURING Motor Neurone Disease (Scotland) Awareness Week, over £400 was raised for the worthy cause at Ettrick Forest Riders’ Association working hunter show last weekend.

Run by Anne Millar, and held at her Timpendean Farm home near Jedburgh, some well-filled classes were judged by Peter Elliot (conformation) and Mike Cregan (ride).

Hawick riders filled the top three slots in the starter class, won by Kelly Mitchell riding her American thoroughbred Thanxforthat.

Jennifer Warwick, finished runner-up on her locally-bred Scapa Bay, with Rachel Shiell in third on the Connemara Kirtle Firecrest.

Yetholm’s Clive Storey completed a victorious treble at the event.

He topped the nursery section riding Albert, with Fiona Deans on Ultra du Chatelet in second, and Gunner ridden by Lucy Forrest to take third.

Clive added to a great day when winning win both the Intermediate and open sections with his successful coloured horse Masquerade. Young Katie Rourke rode Valentino to take second and third, with Louise Clark from Kelso filling similar positions with Daisy and Coco.

Hawick doctor Vicki Hankinson headed a well-subscribed novice class on Arrthur Pendragon, with Clive Storey continuing in-form to take second on Zakabar Star and Joyce Grigor in third on Essenside George.

“Many thanks to all who came to support and help and to all who donated to this more than worthwhile cause,” said Anne.

The club will runs another working hunter show at Kirksyde, Lindean, on September 2 – details on ettrickforest.co.uk.
