AN EDDLESTON cafe owner is ‘devastated’ after being broken into  three times in the first two months since she arrived.

Anelia Tabachka, who took over The Scots Pine restaurant and tearoom on May 8, told us: “We are devastated that this has happened to us three times in a matter of weeks, and hope [the culprits] can be caught.

“The first break-in happened overnight on May 24, in which money was stolen from my till. A second incident occurred between June 2 and 3, but luckily there was no money in the till for them to take. For this second incident, a fire extinguisher was used to break the window and gain access to the building.

“For the third incident on Sunday, July 9, no money was taken from the till, but a box of hand-crafted biscuits beside it were stolen.

“We installed CCTV after the second time this happened in the hope this would keep them away, but we were saddened to discover yet another break-in at the start of the month.

“After checking the footage of the last incident, we discovered two masked men. One was standing by the broken window, and the other was in the building.”

Anelia took over the Scots Pine after selling her former premises, the Buon Gusto Ristorante in Selkirk.

Police Scotland said: “Enquiries into all three incidents are ongoing. Anyone with information is asked to contact Peebles Police Station on 101, quoting incident number 0526 of May 25.”
