A Hawick man has appeared in private at Selkirk Sheriff Court charged with three offences.
Twenty-nine-year-old Alan Cairns is accused of theft by shoplifting, possession of an offensive weapon and threatening or abusive behaviour.
He made no plea and the case was continued for further examination.
Bail was refused and Cairns was remanded in custody by Sheriff Peter Paterson.
