72-year-old motorcyclist killed on Borders road
A MOTORCYCLIST has died after crashing off a country road in the Borders.
The 72-year-old man died at the scene of the crash off the A708 near Moffat at around 7.45pm on Wednesday (August 9).
Police Scotland said he was riding a green BMW R1100 along with a group of other bikers when the crash happened.
The road was closed for eight hours while officers investigated the scene.
Constable Scott McCreadie said: "The dead man appears to have been travelling at the rear of a group of motorcyclists when the crash happened.
"We are appealing for anyone who may have witnessed this crash to come forward and contact Police Scotland's road policing unit at Dumfries on 101."
