POLICE are trying to track down an alcohol thief in Melrose.

On Thursday, July 20, a haul of alcoholic drinks including vodka and cider was taken from the Co-op store in the town.

At last week's Melrose and District Community Council meeting, PC Phil Winning said: "We had a theft of vodka from the Co-op store last month.

"I'm not an expert on types of vodka, but I believe it was the Grey Goose brand, which I don't believe is the cheap stuff.

"We have had this sort of incident before and it is something that regularly across the country."

The suspect is described as white, in his forties, with a medium build and balding head.

He was wearing a cream coloured zip up fleece, jeans and tan shoes.

Inquiries are ongoing.
