HEAVY rain could bring a chance of flooding this evening - as Storm Alieen sweeps into the Scottish Borders.

The Met Office has issued a 'yellow warning', meaning people across the region should be prepared for a spell heavy rain from 5pm today (Tuesday, September 12) until 8am on Wednesday.

It says the storm may cause flooding on the transport network, with spray and difficult driving conditions due to the combination of rain and wind.

Yesterday's warning regarding gusts of up to 75mph has since been revised.

The Met Office has said that very strong westerly winds will affect large parts of England and Wales, with a yellow warning stretching from the North East to the South West of the country, plus an amber warning from North Wales to Lincolnshire.
