ISSUES have been raised over the state of Innerleithen Cemetery.
At the recent meeting of the town's community council on Monday, one resident drew attention to the uncollected grass on the Traquair Road site, which is managed by SBC.
He said: "The place is a mess, with clumps of grass left throughout. The poor state of the area is a lack of respect to the town's deceased and living residents who visit them."
Responding, Tweeddale East Councillor Shona Haslam (Conservative) said: "A reason, not an excuse, for why the grass was left in the graveyard is to encourage biodiversity.
"However, myself and Councillor Robin Tatler will meet with Jason Hedley of the Neighbourhood Team to discuss what improvements could be made."
