EARLIER this month West Linton Golf Club hosted the Central and Lothian retired members league presentation day.

The format for the event was Stableford Points with the best six scores from each club deciding the winner.

Nine clubs from across the region competed, with in excess of 100 golfers taking to Slipperfield Moor on a very wet and cold day.

As fortune would have it, West Linton won the event with a total score of 182 points.

Alloa Golf Club were second, six points adrift.

David Buchanan, senior section convener at West Linton, was presented with the silverware.

Competition organiser Gordon Currie was delighted with how the day went, despite an initial delay in proceedings as a result of the persistent heavy rain.

He stated: “It was a pleasure to host the presentation day and great to see all clubs who compete in the league, ranging from Buchanan Castle at Drymen to ourselves in the Borders, well represented.

"All participants spoke highly about the condition of the course, which is a great compliment to our hard working greens staff.

"To win the trophy was a welcome bonus."

Other recent winners at the West Linton club were Pam Stephenson, who won the two round Mackie Rosebowl with a combined total of 70 points whilst Chris Beattie, with 38 points, won the Westwater Trophy.

Jack Kinghorn was victorious in the Juniors Deanfoot Cup as well as the two round strokeplay event, taking his total of victories for the season to four.

Finally Connor McCaffrey won the September junior blue tee stableford for his second success of the season.

Well done to all winners.
