A 22-year-old man has walked free from a total of four charges at Jedburgh Sheriff Court.

Witnesses failed to show for the trial of Mark McCarry of Jamiesons Court, Kelso, and he was subsequently found not guilty.

He had been accused of spitting at a woman and punching her face to her injury in Bowmont Street, Kelso, on September 5, and behaving in a threatening or abusive manner.

The following day he was alleged to have punched another woman in Boiwmont Street and stealing a plastic bag containing £40 of money.
