THIS weekend’s Colour Run in Galashiels has been postponed.

The event was due to take place on Saturday, but parts of the 5km course around the grounds of the Heriot-Watt campus are waterlogged due heavy rainfall.

Now organisers from the university and leisure organisation Live Borders, are looking for a new date to reschedule the event in 2018.

Lucy Graham, vice president at the Heriot-Watt’s Scottish Borders campus, said: "Safety is at the forefront of our minds and sadly, we have had to take the decision to postpone the Colour Run.

"We had hoped the course would have dried out in time but, unfortunately, this hasn’t happened.

"It’s a great shame and I want to take this opportunity to pass on my apologies to everyone who had been looking forward to taking part."

Those who were signed up to the event will be notified of the  postponement by Live Borders who will also manage all refunds.

Jane Hogg, director of commercial services, Live Borders added: "It’s with a heavy heart that we’ve taken this action as we know everyone was really looking forward to the event.

"We look forward to working with our partners at Heriot-Watt to bring a fantastic Colour Run experience to Galashiels in 2018."
