A 51-year-old Peebles man has appeared in private at Selkirk Sheriff Court accused of attempted murder.
Colin Boyle is charged on petition with committing the offence at his home in Cuddyside at around 1.10pm yesterday (Monday).
A 34-year-old man is said to have sustained a serious wound to his body which required treatment at Borders General Hospital.
Boyle made no plea and the case was continued for further examination.
He was granted bail by Sheriff Peter Paterson.
Police Scotland have appealed for any witnesses who were in the Cuddyside area of Peebles at lunchtime on Monday to come forward.
