WITNESSES are being sought after a break-in and attempted theft of a community tractor.
The incident happened sometime between 2pm on Tuesday, November 7 and 8am on Wednesday, November 8 at a yard in Herriotfield, Oxton.
Those responsible forced entry to the premises and tried to steal a mini John Deere tractor. After the attempt was unsuccessful they left the site empty-handed.
Inquiries are ongoing to trace the culprits and those with information are asked to come forward.
Constable Craig Hood from Kelso Police Station said: "The tractor was purchased by the Oxton Community Council and is a very valuable piece of equipment to the local area. Thankfully, it was not stolen, but we are treating this incident very seriously and would ask anyone who remembers seeing any suspicious activity in the Oxton area to contact police immediately.
"Similarly, if you have any other information relevant to this investigation then please also get in touch."
