POLICE have launched an investigation after a 77-year-old man was found dead in Hawick.
The man had been travelling on a mobility scooter on the road to Hathendean, near Knowetownhead Townhouse.
Around 11.05am today (Thursday, November 9) the man was found in the roadway, and the scooter overturned, by a member of the public.
The Scottish Ambulance Service were called to attend, however the man was pronounced dead at the scene.
Sergeant John Easton of the Road Policing Unit said: "The man's family have been informed and our condolences are with them at this sad time.
"Our enquiries continue to establish the full circumstances surrounding his death and we'd urge anyone who may have information which can help to get in touch as soon as possible."
