A 126-year-old Selkirk chemical company has been bought out by a US firm, in a multi-million pound deal.

RP Adam Ltd, which is based in Riverside Road, employs 85 factory and field workers in the Royal Burgh.

And on today it was confirmed that it has been acquired by Ecolab Inc, which claims to be the world’s leading provider of water, hygiene and energy technologies and services, based in Saint Paul Minnesota.

The company, which operates in more than 170 countries across the globe, recorded sales of $13 billion in 2016.

It will also take control of the Selkirk business’ Dubai base where 46 people are currently employed. Annual sales for the RP Adam group are approximately $20 million.
