THREE men have been banned from every Co-op in the country after being accused of stealing cigarettes from a delivery lorry in West Linton.

Darryl Begg,22, of Helenvale Street, Glasgow; 19-year-old Ross Kennedy of Yarrow Way, Blantyre, and Darren McCormick, 28, of Powbrae, East Kilbride; will stand trial at Selkirk Sheriff Court on March 1.

They have all pleaded not guilty to the theft of the cigarettes in Main Street on the morning of Saturday, November 4.

It is alleged they carried out the theft from a delivery vehicle outside the Co-op.

McCormick also denies driving a car without insurance and Begg pleaded not guilty to a charge of failing to tell police who was driving a vehicle.

All three men were granted bail with special conditions stating they cannot enter the Scottish Borders unless attending court and not entering any Co-operative stores.

An intermediate diet hearing has been fixed for January 29.
