CHRISTMAS has officially arrived in Lauder.

And it was cheered in by a large crowd of locals and visitors at the weekend, who all turned out to see the big lights switch on.

Youngsters got the chance to share their wishlist with Santa, have a ride on the fairground roundabout, discover the Mega Fire Engine, play party games and have their faces painted.

And for the adults, there was the chance to enjoy a glass of mulled wine while taking in some festive favourites performed by the Lauderdale Community Choir.

A spokesperson for the Lauder Christmas Lights Festival said: “Thank you to everyone who came and supported the Lauder Christmas Lights switch on event. The Lights Group hope you enjoyed the evening’s events.

“A huge thanks to The Lauderdale Community Choir for their beautiful performance of Christmas carols. And thanks to Santa for spending his evening with us here in Lauder – we know what a busy time of year it is for him.

“Finally we would like to thank all the people who made it happen this year, for giving up their time for planning, preparing and clearing up – you’re all Christmas stars!

“A special mention also to Lauder In Bloom for Santa’s Throne and the help with his wonderful woodland Grotto.”
