AN APPEAL has launched after two break-ins within 24 hours in a Borders village.

The first incident happened between 2.15pm and 4pm on Thursday, December 21 and the second incident happened at some point between 3pm on Thursday, December 21 and 9am on Friday, December 22.

Both incidents occurred at properties in Broughton, near Biggar.

A sum of cash and items of jewellery were taken from the first house and nothing was taken from the second house.

Officers are now asking for anyone with information about these incidents to please get in contact.

Constable Bruce Dodds of Galashiels police station said: “Two similar incidents in the village of Broughton is very unusual and someone may have seen or heard something suspicious.

“Anyone with information is asked to contact us at Galashiels police station or by calling 101 or anonymously via Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.”
