THE Easter Eggstravaganza will return to Traquair House next weekend.

Now in its 18th year, the event will host a number of cracking activities.

And that of course includes the annual Easter egg hunt. A spokesperson for Traquair told the us: “With the largest hedged maze in Scotland, there could be no better place for an Easter egg hunt.

"There will be 6,000 mini eggs to be found during a series of egg hunts throughout the day and we guarantee no child will leave empty handed.

“But the event is not all about a mad rush for chocolate. There are lots of other fun hands on activities for families including scavenger hunts with big egg prizes, spot the egg in the house competition, Easter bonnet making, musical instrument making storytelling and face painting.

“There are also lots of opportunities to decorate your own egg with eggs kindly donated by Glenrath and you can also join in with the communal decorating of the gigantic 6ft Egg which definitely is not one to be cracked!”

Also at the event will be Michael Angelo – the extraordinary stilt man – who will entertain the crowds and lead the Easter procession at 3pm for everyone to show off their bonnets.

This year there are three egg hunts planned for the under 10s. At 1.30pm the first hunt will be for five-six-year-olds in the maze.

Then at 3.30pm there will be an under fives egg scramble in the Old Walled Garden and at 4pm a hunt for seven-nine-year-olds will be held in the maze.

Home cooked lunches and teas will be available in the Garden Cafe with some home brewed Traquair Ales also on offer.

The event takes place on Sunday, April 1. Gates open at 11am and activities begin at midday.

Tickets are available online at http://www.traquair.co.uk or on the gate.
Admission is £6 for adults. £5 for children/concessions and under fives go free.

Entry to the house is additional.
