SESSIONS to improve motorcycling skills will be held in Galashiels next month.

Run by the Borders Group of Advanced Motorcyclists (BGAM), the event will be held at the town’s fire station in Abbotsford Road.

They will be teaming up with road safety campaigners Drivewise Borders to offer up to 20 places on the IAM Road Smart ‘Skills for Life’ course.

And at the open day, free 30-minute ride assessments with a qualified observer will also be on offer.

Jimmy Wright, BGAM Group Secretary, said: “All the partners involved are keen to reduce the number of incidents involving motorcycles in and around the Scottish Borders.

“One of the ways to achieve this is through education and the ‘Skills for Life’ course.”

The open day will take place on Saturday, April 7 from 10am-3pm.

Places on the ‘Skills for Life’ course are available to riders who hold a UK category A or A2 licence.
