A MAN has been arrested following the recovery of Class A drugs in Galashiels.

Officers carried out an intelligence-led search of a property in Gala Park Gardens on Wednesday, April 11 where heroin worth over £11,000 was seized from within.

More than £2,000 in cash and other items of drug paraphernalia were also removed from the address and a 44-year-old man was subsequently charged under the Misuse of Drugs Act.

He made a first appearance at Selkirk Sheriff Court on Thursday, April 12.

Inspector Bryan Burns from Galashiels Police Station said: "This latest drugs arrest comes once again, off the back of intelligence provided to us from the local community.

"Residents of Galashiels have made it perfectly clear they will not tolerate drug crime on their streets and we continue to act on the information they provide us with to target anyone involved in the production or distribution of illegal substances.

"If you would like to report ongoing drug offences in your area then please contact us on 101 or make an anonymous report to the charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111."
