  • How to get there - ScotRail (Borders Railway)

ScotRail is adding extra carriages to trains as it prepares for a big weekend of sport.

Rugby fans heading to the Melrose Sevens on Saturday will benefit from extra carriages on trains between Edinburgh and Tweedbank throughout the day.

To help ensure customers arrive at the events on time, they should allow extra time for travel – as well as purchasing tickets in advance.

ScotRail will have extra staff on the ground to assist customers and, as with most major events, alcohol bans will be in place.

ScotRail Alliance Head of Customer Experience Graham Heald said: “We’ve got a busy weekend of sport ahead as we take fans to the Scottish Cup Semi-Finals at Hampden and the Melrose Sevens in the Borders.

“We’re adding extra carriages to services for the Scottish Cup semi-finals as well as on the Borders Railway, however, trains are expected to be very busy.

“Make sure to check your train times on our website or app and leave plenty of time for travel. Buying tickets in advance will also help reduce your queuing time.”
