AROUND £3,000 of heroin has been discovered by police during a raid in Hawick.
Officers descended on a property in Silverbuthall Road yesterday morning.
As well as finding the class A drug they also discovered drugs paraphernalia, knives and a quantity of cash.
A 37 year old man has been charged and will be appearing before Selkirk Sheriff Court today.
Inspector Tony Hodges said: "This is the second time in two weeks that we have recovered heroin when searching properties in the Borders, after £11,000 worth was seized in Galashiels earlier this month.
"We take all information we receive from the community seriously and without this intelligence picture we cannot take the action that we have to target drug supply in our area.
"Drug dealing and misuse is one of the priorities our communities have identified to us in the Your Views Count survey, and we will continue to work hard to take action against those involved in this criminality, making the Borders even safer for everyone."
