POLICE have arrested three people after around £1,700 of drugs were seized at two addresses in Galashiels.

Officers from the newly implemented local Community Action Team (CAT) alongside local CID officers carried out search warrants at the properties last Friday.

An 18-year-old man was arrested at an address in William Law Gardens following quantities of cannabis, and ecstasy tablets with a combined maximum estimated street value of £1000 being recovered.

During the search of a second address in Glendinning Terrace, heroin, cannabis and a quantity of prescribed medication, with a collective street value of £700 were seized.

A 26-year-old man and a 22-year-old woman were subsequently arrested in connection with this.

All three individuals have since been charged and reported to the Procurator Fiscal.

Police Scotland said: "We would like to take this opportunity to thank the local community for their continued support and reassure the public that the misuse of drugs will not be tolerated."
