A CAR driven by an elderly motorist collided with a tree earlier this month.

The man, in his 80s, was driving on the A7 in his Rover 25 when it collided with the tree, just past the Fountainhall turn-off, at around 3.30am on Sunday, June 3.

Police Scotland said the ambulance service was first in attendance and checked the male driver, who was conscious and breathing.

No further details about his condition have been released since the incident.

The road was cleared at around 5.45am and re-opened to traffic.
