A CAR thief from Galashiels has been jailed for 60 days at Selkirk Sheriff Court.
Twenty six year old Gary Stewart was spotted driving a Vauxhall Corsa just an hour after it had been reported stolen.
He pleaded guilty to the theft and also driving with no insurance or valid licence.
The offences happened in the Stanley Street and Gala Park areas of Galashiels on January 13.
Sheriff Euan Edmont told Stewart of Gala Park Court the prison sentence was being reduced from 90 days to 60 days to reflect the guilty plea and back-dated to June 4 when he was first remanded in custody in connection with the matter.
In addition he had his licence endorsed with six penalty points for the insurance offence.
