ORGANISERS of the new Selkirk Farmers' Market have revealed there is already a waiting list for stalls.

The inaugural event took place at the start of the month.

And many of the 15 traders had sold out of stock within hours of opening.

All 15 stalls have already been booked for the second Market on Saturday, July 7.

Selkirkshire councillor Caroline Penman said: "The first Market was a huge success and the feedback from stallholders as well as shoppers was extremely positive.

"Many of the stallholders immediately booked for the next month and we now have a waiting list."

Local organisations receive a boost from the monthly Market with Selkirk Rugby Club's junior section receiving £300 for assembling and taking down the stalls.

And next month it will be the turn of the Selkirk Silver Band to receive the rental donation.

A further £75 was also given to Scott's Selkirk following the June Market.
