POLICE have named a man who died following a road traffic collision near Jedburgh earlier this month.

John Dent, 53, from Hexham in Northumberland, was riding a Triumph Thruxton motorbike on the A68 on the afternoon of Sunday, July 8 when he was in collision with an Audi A6.

He was sadly pronounced dead at the scene.

In a statement, John's family said: "John was a much loved husband and father to his wife and three daughters. John lived in the north east of England and was enjoying one of his favourite pastimes when he was sadly taken from us.

"He spent 30 years as a Marine Engineer in the Merchant Navy working in the north of Scotland. He was very much a family man, his other passions included his speed boat, water skiing, skiing and hiking with his dogs.

"We are very grateful for the support of family and his many friends and he is much missed by all of us."

Officers from Dalkeith Road Policing Unit are continuing to investigate the collision and would ask that anyone who witnessed this incident but has not yet been in touch with police contact them on 101 quoting incident 3330 of July 8.
