POLICE believe the theft of two high-value mountain bikes and an attempted break-in at the weekend may be linked.
The bikes, worth a four-figure sum, were stolen between 8.30pm on February 10 and 7.30am the following day from a garage in Princes Street, Innerleithen.
Witnesses are also being sought after an attempted break-in to a VW Transporter camper van nearby.
The vehicle was parked in Buccleuch Street overnight on February 10.
Police Scotland said: “Someone tried to gain entry to the vehicle and, although nothing was stolen, caused a significant amount of damage.”
Anyone with information is urged to contact the police on 101 or anonymously via Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111, quoting incident number 1132 for the mountain bike thefts, and incident number 1229 for the break-in attempt.
