SCOTTISH Borders Council (SBC) has the best local authority website in the UK according to a new independent review.

SiteMorse.com examines the usability, accessibility, reliability and performance of all council sites.

SBC Chief Executive Tracey Logan said: "The website is very much designed to make it easy for people to find what they’re looking for and carry out tasks quickly and easily.

"We pay particular attention to inclusivity and pride ourselves that as many people as possible can use our site, regardless of their ability, disability or access requirements. This endorsement from Sitemorse is great news as we want the website to be a vital link between the council and the public."

SiteMorse.com now rates SBC’s website as the best out of 429 authorities in the UK.

The website (www.scotborders.gov.uk) attracts on average over 63,000 visitors a month. The most visited sections of the site include bin collection days, council tax, school holiday dates, libraries and planning applications
