POLICE Scotland is appealing for information to help trace a man reported missing in the Scottish Borders.

Thomas Johnstone was last seen at around 8.30am on Wednesday 15th October as he left the Borders General Hospital.

Since then the 64-year-old has not made contact with anyone and concern is now growing for his welfare.

Officers have been conducting various local enquiries within the Borders to Trace Thomas, who has previously visited the London and Kent areas. Anyone who can assist in locating him is asked to come forward.

He is described as being white, 6ft 2ins tall, short grey hair and beard and a muscular build. He was last seen wearing black trousers, black and grey striped top and is believed to be in possession of two bags, one with a Nike logo on it.

A Police Scotland spokesman said: "It has now been a number of days since Thomas was seen leaving the hospital and we are keen to trace him as soon as possible to ensure he is safe and well.

"Anyone with information that can help with our investigation should contact police immediately."
